What is a Compounding Pharmacy?

A compounding pharmacy creates customized medications to meet the unique needs of each patient. Unlike mass-produced prescriptions, compounded medications are made from scratch — by mixing, combining, or altering ingredients — under the guidance of a pharmacist with years of experience

Why Would Someone Need a Compounded Medication?

  • You need a medication in a different strength or dosage form (like a liquid instead of a tablet)

  • You have an allergy or sensitivity to an ingredient (like dye, alcohol, or gluten)

  • Your child or pet refuses the taste — and needs a flavored or easier-to-take version

  • The medication you need is temporarily unavailable or discontinued by the manufacturer

  • To avoid side effects that only occur from the most common administration method. For example, Gabapentin may cause drowsiness when taken orally, but we can make it into a cream to prevent that.
